Spirulina
Clinical Studies

JustSpirulina, AFRICA 2030 and Centre de Recherche en Sciences Naturelles de Lwiro in DRC (CRSN/LWIRO) conducted a small-scale study to evaluate the effects of locally grown Spirulina on severely malnourished children.
The study showed Spirulina to be just as effective as World Health Organization protocols for treating severe malnutrition and in some criteria even better: Children treated with Spirulina gained on average 35% more weight and 18% more width in arm circumference than children treated with enriched milk and were quicker to recover enough to be discharged from hospital.
JustSpirulina, AFRICA 2030 and Centre de Recherche en Sciences Naturelles de Lwiro in DRC (CRSN/LWIRO) are now conducting studies on larger scales and monitoring the children for long periods.
